As Ladies’ Captain of Reading Golf Club 2023/4, I would like to extend a very warm welcome. Here at our home at The Caversham, you will find a golf course designed for the enjoyment of all abilities, excellent practice facilities and a stunning, completely redesigned and refurbished clubhouse. Built on the beautiful Mapledurham Estate, just north of Reading, the Eyston Course is playable all year round and has spectacular views both on the course and from the clubhouse and terrace.
We are a modern and inclusive club that welcomes lady members of all abilities. Due to our facilities, including a locker room of the highest standard and a gym/fitness suite specific to golfers, we are attracting many new lady members. Our gender neutral tees mean golfers can play off any tee or combination (with three being rated for ladies’ WHS handicaps) giving ladies of any ability, more challenging options.
New lady members will be made most welcome. You will be invited to play with the Ladies’ Captain or Vice -Captain and welcomed to the section in a new members’ evening. We will ensure that you are given regular playing partners when we go out in groups and given the opportunity to play in matches. For beginners, our head professional Joe Templer offers evening and weekend group academy sessions, as well as individual lessons and we have great practice facilities including a driving range and indoor golf simulator.
I am very proud to be a Ladies’ Captain of Reading Golf Club, especially in the year we have our first female Club Captain, Cathy Jones.

Becoming a Member
A significant investment program started back in 2019 with world renowned course architect Tom McBroom on board with a vision to put members first and become one of the top sporting and events facilities in the Southeast. Work also commenced on a complete redesign and renovation project of the clubhouse back in September 2022 which will include brand new facilities such as a fitness suite exclusively for members, two treatment rooms, indoor golf simulator, a large balcony that will seat up to 80 people and a fully refurbished locker and changing room facility.
