Overview

From the tee, a well placed and intimidating fairway bunker down the right-hand side captures your attention however with a large copse of gorse gunning above the left to right sloping fairway this tee-shot can test the nerve of the most experienced player. Having successfully found the fairway, a raised green, set in the foreground of the newly constructed (opening July 2023) balcony of the clubhouse must be hit. Three bunkers set into the hillside left of the green naturally send you to the right of the green and here Tom McBroom has generously provided some strong sloping to bring the ball back onto the putting surface.

The newly constructed green here has many subtle borrows and is not for those of a nervous disposition when bets are still to be settled. The setting of this green provides a unique and exciting amphitheatre that can be enjoyed by all, whether playing or not. This is a fitting testimony to the stunning challenge Tom McBroom has created for members and visitors alike to the Eyston Course here at The Caversham, Home of Reading Golf Club.
